@kdfrawg I don't mind it but I found the realization that I'm rarely actually ever in actual darkness to be rather striking. I could not see anything in my house at all. I take the dark I'm usually in—which turns out to be far from dark!—for granted. It was a weird sensation.
@indigo I don't like it either but it doesn't bother me as much as it bothers lots of other people. I just spent 20 minutes or so outside. It's 90 and I found it quite pleasant in the shade. :-) If I'd been walking or working in the sun, I would not have found it the least bit pleasant, though!

@indigo No it's not. We are at 87 and it feels downright cool after the high 90s we hit on Friday and the 100s the weekend before. :-)

@kdfrawg I was honestly astounded by how dark it was. Since there were no street lights on there wasn't even any light sneaking in from outside. I looked out and it was light enough to see the outlines of the nearby houses but that was it and as soon as I closed the blinds again, it was jet black inside. Kind of spooky in a way.
@kdfrawg No lights came on but the A/C did and all the hard drives in DVRs and computers start spinning up. It was sooooooo dark when I fell asleep and even though no overhead/lamp lights came on, all the blinking/glowing "yes, I'm alive" indicators from the electronics keep the place more lit up than I ever realize.
@kdfrawg ? All the noise is what woke me up to the fact that the power was back. :-)
